The SMOOV-One Power Assist, which slots underneath a manual wheelchair (either rigid- or folding-frame), consists of a 360-degree swivel drive wheel powered by a motor that runs off a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and is operated by a Bluetooth-enabled hand controller that attaches to one of the armrests. It reportedly generates speeds up to 6 mph, has a range of 12 miles per charge, and can handle different terrains (reportedly even slopes up to 16%). A free accompanying app provides speed, battery, and other monitoring information.
